Mission

The Louisiana Parenting Education Network is an association for parent educators in Louisiana. LAPEN is composed of professionals from differing backgrounds and training who share a common interest in providing quality and effective parenting education.

The VISION of LAPEN is that Louisiana will have high quality and effective parenting education.

The MISSION of LAPEN is to provide leadership and infrastructure to support Louisiana’s parent educators from every field.

The GOALS of LAPEN are threefold:
1. To develop and support a statewide network of parent educators who offer parenting education services.
2. To promote best practices in parenting education.
3. To provide and promote continuing education and professional development opportunities for parent educators.


The Louisiana Parenting Education Network (LAPEN) operates under the auspices of the Louisiana Partnership for Children and Families . The Partnership is an advocacy organization with a mission to promote one vision and voice for Louisiana’s children and improve the well-being of children and their families through public policy advocacy, education and awareness, and data-driven efforts.

LAPEN was formed through, and still operates with support from, the BrightStart  initiative. BrightStart is an initiative to create and sustain a comprehensive and integrated early childhood system in Louisiana. BrightStart has five core areas including parenting education and family support.
